Смех каких генералов вызывал Роман Гофман, следующий глава Моссада

Нетаньягу назначил следующим директором “Моссада” военного секретаря премьер-министра генерал-майора Романа Гофмана. Он сменит нынешнего директора Давида Барнеа, чья каденция заканчивается в июне 2026.

Роман репатриировался в 14 лет с родителями (отец врач, мать учительница) из белорусского Мозыря.

Учился в военном интернате в Ашдоде, а затем в военном интернате в поселении Эли.

Имеет степень бакалавра политологии Ашкелонского академического колледжа и является выпускником Колледжа национальной безопасности.

В 1995 году был призван на службу в бронетанковые войска Армии обороны Израиля. По окончании офицерских курсов в 1997 году служил командиром взвода, а затем и командиром роты в 71-м батальоне 188-й бронетанковой бригады.

В 2002 году принимал участие в операции «Защитная стена». Затем был назначен заместителем командира 71-го батальона 188-й бронетанковой бригады. Занимал аналогичную должность в 460-й бронетанковой бригаде. Позже служил в штабе бронетанковой дивизии «Гааш».

В 2010 году Гофману было присвоено звание подполковника и он получил назначение на должность начальника отдела в учебном центре сухопутных войск. В 2011—2013 годах командовал 75-м батальоном в 7-й бронетанковой бригаде. В 2013—2015 годах был начальником оперативного отдела в штабе бронетанковой дивизии «Гааш».

30 августа 2015 года Гофман был произведён в полковники и назначен командиром территориальной бригады «Эцион». 2 августа 2017 года принял командование 7-й бронетанковой бригадой «Саар ми-Голан».

1 июля 2019 года было принято решение о назначении Гофмана командиром дивизии «Ха-Башан» с присвоением звания бригадный генерал. 14 августа 2019 года Гофман передал командование бригадой «Саар ми-Голан» полковнику Уди Цуру и поступил в Колледж национальной безопасности Армии обороны Израиля до вступления на должность командира дивизии.

1 июля 2020 года Гофман был повышен в звании до бригадного генерала и вступил на должность командира дивизии.

19 сентября 2022 года Гофман передал командование дивизией «Ха-Башан» бригадному генералу Циону Рацону, а 27 октября 2022 года вступил в должность командира Национального центра учений сухопутных войск (ивр. ‏מל”י).

Во время нападения ХАМАС 7 октября 2023 года,  вскочил в машину и вместе со своим водителем поехал изз Ашдода в сторону Сдерота, по дороге, собрав небольшую группу полицейских, вступил в бой с боевиками, но вскоре получил тяжелое ранение. в ногу.

Выписавшись из госпиталя — начальник штаба отдела координации деятельности правительства.

8 апреля 2024 года был назначен на пост военного секретаря премьер-министра Израиля.

16 мая 2024 года Гофману было присвоено звание генерал-майора.

В 2018 будучи комбригом 7-й бронетанковой бригады Роман Гофман заявил на собрании комсостава тогдашнему начальнику генштаба Гади Айзенкоту: “Раматкаль, я хотел бы начать и сообщить, что мы готовы и хотим воевать. Повторяю, мы готовы и хотим воевать, но есть одна проблема. Вы не исаользуеие нас. На протяжении длительного времени здесь рпзвивается очень проблемный шаблон. И суть его в том, чтоб избегать применения сухопутных войск. И тем не менеее в текущей ситуации у нас есть много что пред’явить.  В секторе Газа, в Ливане, Сирии, везде где потребуется. И раз за разом мы как бы говорим людям, что у нас есть более актуальные инструменты. Так будьте же хотя бы с нами. И это в конечном итоге влияет на желание сражаться. То, что делает нас боевыми командирами на протяжении долгого времени, это трение с другой стороной, иначе это… состояние клинической смерти”.

В заявлении канцелярии ПМ подчеркивается, что назначение Гофмана на должность военного секретаря в разгар “Войны возрождения” (войны “Железные мечи”) показало его “исключительные профессиональные способности” – от быстрого вхождения в должность до непосредственного участия и координации работы по семи фронтам войны. Гофман находился в постоянном контакте со всеми израильскими разведслужбами, в особенности с “Мосадом”. Согласно тексту сообщения, Гофман проявил “креативность, инициативность, хитрость, глубокое знание противника, абсолютную конфиденциальность и умение хранить тайну”.

Не успел Нетаньягу объявить о назначении Гофмана, как пошла атака левацких СМИ. Он и не специалист, при том, что многие директора “Моссада” были до того армейскими генералами, не знает англ (?), будет служить лично лично Биби и т.д.

А вот как вспоминал о встрече в сентябре 2015 с Романом Гофманом, приезжавший в Мозырь и Калинковичи для проведения пасхального седера в апреле 1990, посланник Джойнта Йоханан Бен-Яаков:

On the eve of Pesach, on April 1990, I went with the Israeli delegation, one of the 34 organizers of the Pesach Seder in the Soviet Union. It was the first Israeli delegation that met with the Jews of the USSR after the fall of the Iron Curtain, and I was instructed to lead the Pesach seder in Mozyr, a small town in the south of Belarus, near Chernobyl.

When I arrived in Mozyr, which was closed to tourism and foreign visits, I discovered that there are from 3 to 5 thousand Jews. There is no minyan for prayer, there is no place for prayer, there are no Hebrew teachers, there is no Jewish cultural club, there is no Jewish community. I found two Jewish textbooks brought here before my arrival.

An elderly Jew remembered a few words in Hebrew. Sometimes he went to Shabbat and holidays to pray in the elderly minyan in the nearby town of Kalinkovichi, where he read the Torah. He was the only one in the area who could read the Torah.

This elderly man, Yosef Malkin, was the hero of my first Seder, held in Mozyr. The faded and dusty local restaurant hall was decorated with a number of colorful and spectacularly vivid paintings of Eretz Israel, in all corners Jewish national flags flaunted. Speaking of Kiddush, I respected the elderly Yosef Malkin, who came with many awards on his jacket for his service in the Red Army in World War II. Two days before I managed to find this kind old man, and he accepted my request to consecrate and take part in the preparation of the Seder. The only Jew in Mozyr, who from childhood remembered some Jewish rules of life.

.With trembling hands, Mr. Malkin took a large silver bowl filled with red wine from Israel, and began to read in Hebrew with a heavy Ashkenazi accent the words of the Kidush. His voice choked with excitement that rose and filled his eyes with warm tears. The people around us did not understand the intensity of his emotions, I realized. Who knew that these images were in the head of this Jewish old man who in his childhood knew the rich Jewish world around him, a bright Jewish life thriving “within the town limits”, old Jewish communities, famous yeshivas, prosperous Hasidism, the awakening Zionist movement. Yosef Malkin knew in his childhood that it was in Volozhin and Minsk, Bobruysk and Pinsk, Vitebsk and Grodno, Brisk and Vilna, Dvinsk and Dubno, Mir and Baranovichi, Slonim and Rakov, Lida and Oshmyany and many other towns and villages. .At the end of the Seder Yosef Malkin asked me to come to his house. It was very late, so we agreed that I would come on the first day of Pesach. The whole family, his daughters, his sons-in-law and grandchildren, as well as other family members gathered in a small apartment. As a result of my attempt to remember about his childhood, a hearty conversation ensued. The old man said that several times over the past decades he have ate matza for Pesach. He could try some matza on Pesach, which reached him in secret and indirect way.

Suddenly the old man went to the hidden corner of the wall under the ceiling, took off the cover, opened the slot and pulled out a dusty bag of cloth. Inside were moldy canvas wrappers, which filled the room with a cloud of dust. From them appeared the Shofar of Yosef! The shock was huge. No one in the family knew about this, even his wife, it seems, did not know about this hidden object. Yosef gave me the shofar and quoted a verse with a heavy Yiddish accent: “blow a big shofar for our freedom …”. I asked: “Did anyone in the family know what kind of strange object it was? – No one answered, no one knew. I hesitantly asked Yosef Malkin why he hid it from them, why does no member of his family know anything about the shofar? The old man answered in a whisper, as if in secret: my wife also does not know. If they knew, one of them would have reported it and it would all have ended bitterly. To his amazement, his elderly wife, who always listened in silence, said: “I knew!” Shofar was discovered by chance, but she was afraid to tell her husband that she knew that he would not report it! “These two friendly elders
were tearful and we were all with them.” People there realized that the story was a big surprise for me. For seventy years Rabbi Yosef Malkin kept the shofar, perhaps he even occasionally used it once or twice, but his wife, his amazing wife, could not reveal the secret.

.When I returned to Israel, I learned something about the nature of Soviet power. Nachman Raz, a member of the kibbutz Geva, then the chairman of the Knesset Education Committee, gave me the memorial book of Nadezhda Mandelstam (Am Oved, 1977). A book that opened a window to the Soviet world and the Jews in it. Horrors of those times of Stalin’s terror created such a deep furrows in the souls of this elderly couple that they could no longer be cured. And I learned more about the term “Stukach” (snitch) in the years of my future work in the countries of the former Soviet Union. The couple’s fear was real, the secret was their only refuge.

Yosef Malkin gave me the shofar, briefly explaining to his family what he had in mind, and asked me with tears that I would take him to the Land of Israel, to be trumpeted on the “terrible days”. The Jewish community in Mozyr will disappear, Yosef said, he is the last in this city who knows what shofar is. I quoted him the biblical stanzas: “Blow the shofar for our freedom and pray to bring all of us from Galut!”. To take the shofar from the borders of the Soviet Union was a risky mission. We were warned not try to take nothing out. I confess that the desire to free the shofar and bring it to Israel exceeded the fear. Shofar got on a plane with me, he wasnt found by the soviet authorities and he got to Israel. On Rosh Hashanah in 1990 and the following years we blew this shofar in the synagogue in Kfar Etzion. I cherish this shofar, and this is one of the most valuable items that we have.

After that trip, most of the families from Mozyr and the district with whom I communicated immigrate to Israel. On Saturday, September 5, 2015, the new commander of the brigade, Colonel Roman Gofman, joined the morning prayer in the synagogue. During the prayer hestood beside me, and at the end he stretched out his hand and said: Shabbat shalom, I read your words about Gush Etzion and learned from you about the area where I was appointed commander. I said “I thought we’d never met.” Roman replied, it’s true, but the materials I found on the Internet, I read and heard your lectures. That’s why I know you. His Russian accent was obvious, and I asked: Roman, where did you come from? He answered, from a small town in Belarus, which no one knows. Of course, his name will not tell you anything. When I insisted, he quietly muttered, from Mozyr! Roman and his family repatriated from there a few months after Pesach 1990. It is likely that his parents attended the Pesach Seder I held there, or at a large meeting that was held with members of the community.

When I returned from Belarus, the late Minister of Education Zvulun Hammer invited me to become a his adviser and chief in the process of absorbing immigrants in the educational system, as well as the Jewish educational program in the Soviet Union, which I created with several partners. I called it (חפציב”ה) Heftziba (from the first letters of the words formal Zionist Jewish education in the Soviet Union). This word is mentioned in one of the prophetic verses of the prophet Isaiah, which describes the return from the galut (dispersion) to the land of Israel and the construction of the country. During this period, and after my first trip to the Soviet Union, I also initiated the creation of the Naale program (the repatriation of youth without parents).
I have already been a pensioner for five years, and these programs continue to work.

On December 4, 2025, Netanyahu appointed Major General Roman Gofman, the Prime Minister’s Military Secretary, as the next director of the Mossad. He will replace the current director, David Barnea, whose term ends in June 2026.

“Gofman is a highly distinguished officer,” said Netanyahu’s office in a statement. “His appointment as the prime minister’s military secretary in the midst of the war… proved that he possesses exceptional professional capabilities, from his rapid entry into the role to his immediate and significant involvement in the seven arenas of the war.”

The PMO said that Gofman “maintained continuous coordination with all intelligence and security agencies, especially the Mossad.”

Netanyahu’s office lauded Gofman’s “creativity, initiative, ingenuity, deep knowledge of the enemy, complete discretion, and strict confidentiality.”

“The prime minister believes that Maj. Gen. Gofman is the most qualified and suitable candidate to serve as Mossad director and wishes him great success in this important role,” said the PMO.

ערב פסח תש”ן, אפריל 1990, יצאתי במשלחת ישראלית, אחד מ-34 עורכי סדרי פסח לברה”מ. הייתה זו המשלחת הישראלית הראשונה שיצאה לפגוש את יהודיי ברה”מ אחרי נפילת מסך הברזל. שובצתי לערוך סדר פסח במוֹזֵיר, עיר קטנה בדרום בלורוס, רוסיה הלבנה, לא הרחק מאתר צ’רנוביל.

כאשר הגעתי למוזיר, שהייתה סגורה ומסוגרת לתיירות ולביקורי זרים, גיליתי כי חיים בה 5,000-3,000 יהודים. אין מניין לתפילה, אין מקום תפילה, אין מורים לעברית, אין מועדון תרבות יהודי, אין כל מסגרת קהילתית יהודית. מצאתי שני ספרי לימוד עברית שהובאו לכאן לפני בואי. יהודי קשיש זכר מעט מילים בעברית, הוא נוסע לפעמים בשבת ובמועד להתפלל במניין זקנים בעיירה הסמוכה, קלינקוביצ’י, שם הוא קורא בתורה, היחיד באזור שיודע לקרוא בגווילי התורה.

קשיש זה, יוסף מלכין שמו, היה גיבור ליל הסדר הראשון שערכתי במוזיר. את אולם המסעדה המקומית הדהוי והמאובק, עיטרנו לקראת ליל הפסח בעשרות תמונות ארצי-ישראליות צבעוניות ומרהיבות ביופיין, דגלי הלאום היהודי התנוססו בכל פינה, צילומי שבעת המינים ונופי ארץ ישראל, הקיפו את הציבור היהודי הרב שהתקבץ עם ערב, והאפילו על חיטובי העץ של דמויות בלורוסיות סִמליות, שהיו קבועות על גבי קירות האולם … את ליל הסדר פתחתי בתיאור “כס אל דומי” המוצב ברגע זה ממש בסדר ליל הפסח בביתי בכפר עציון וברבבות בתים יהודים בישראל, המתכנסים כמונו לחוג את הפסח במועדו. הכיסא הפנוי ליד שולחן הסדר ממתין להם, לאלה היושבים עמנו עתה. באמירת ה”קידוש”, כיבדתי את יוסף מלכין הקשיש, שהופיע  מעוטר בשפע אותות הצטיינות מימי היותו לוחם בצבא האדום, במלחמת העולם השנייה. לפני יומיים עלה בידי לאתר קשיש חביב זה והוא ניאות לבקשתי לקדש ולהשתתף בעריכת הסדר. היהודי היחיד במוזיר שזכר מעט מאורחות החיים היהודיים מימי ילדותו

 בידיים רועדות נטל מר מלכין את גביע הכסף הגדול מלא על גדותיו יין אדום מישראל והחל לקרוא בעברית, בהברה אשכנזית כבדה, את מילות ה”קידוש”. קולו נשנק מהתרגשות שגאתה והציפה את עיניו בדמעות חמות. הציבור סביבנו לא הבין את עוצמת הרגשות שהמו בו, אני הבנתי. מי יודע אלו תמונות עברו במוחו של זקן יהודי זה, שבילדותו הכיר סביבו עולם יהודי עשיר ומלא, חיים יהודיים תוססים שפרחו ב”תחום המושב”, קהילות יהודיות וותיקות, ישיבות ידועות ומפורסמות, חסידות משגשגת, תנועה ציונית מתעוררת. את אלה הכיר יוסף מלכין בילדותו בוולוז’ין ומינסק, בוברויסק ופינסק, וויטבסק וגרודנו, בריסק ווילנה, דווינסק ודובנה, מיר וברנוביצ’י, סלונים ורָקוֹב, לִידָה ואוּשְמִיאָנֶה, ועוד ועוד ערים ועיירות באזור. כל אלה הושמדו בידי צוררי ישראל, עברו ונמחקו מן העולם. מעוצמת הרגשות רעדו ידיו של יוסף, דמעות חנקו את גרונו, לא עלה בידו להשלים את הקידוש. נאצלתי לעשות זאת בעצמי ולהמשיך בניהול הסדר…

בתום הסדר ביקשני יוסף מלכין שאבוא לביתו. השעה הייתה מאוחרת מאד, ולכן סיכמנו שאבוא לביקור ביום הראשון של חול המועד פסח. בדירה הקטנה הצטופפו כל בני המשפחה, בנותיו, חתניו ונכדיו ועוד בני משפחה. התפתחה שיחה לבבית בניסיון שלי לעמוד על זיכרונות הילדות שלהם. הזקן סיפר כי כמה פעמים בעשרות השנים החולפות, זכה לטעום בפסח מעט מצה, שהגיעה אליו בסודי סודות ובדרכי עקיפין

לפתע ניגש הזקן לפינה חבויה במרומי הקיר מתחת לתִקרה, הסיר מסווה, נפער פתח ממנו שלף שקית בד מאובקת. בתוכה עטיפות בד עבש שהציף את החדר בענן אבק מעופש. מתוכם חשף יוסף שופר! התדהמה הייתה עצומה. איש במשפחתו לא ידע על כך, נראה היה שאף אשתו לא ידעה על חפץ זה השמור עמו בהיחבא. יוסף הגיש לי את השופר וציטט שבר פסוק במבטא יידישאי כבד: “תקע בשוֹיֵפר גֹדֶל לחֵירוּסֵיני …”. שאלתי, האם מישהו מכל בני המשפחה יודע מהו חפץ מוזר זה? – איש לא השיב, איש לא ידע. שאלתי את יוסף מלכין בהיסוס: מדוע הסתיר זאת מהם, מדוע אף אחד מבני משפחתו אינו יודע דבר על השופר? – הזקן השיב בלחש, כמו מבקש להמתיק סוד: גם אשתי לא יודעת. אם הם היו יודעים ודאי היה מי מהם מלשין עליו וסופו היה מר. למרבה התדהמה הגיבה רעייתו הקשישה, שכל הערב האזינה בדומייה בלא לפצות את פיה, ואמרה: אני ידעתי! השופר התגלתה לה באקראי, אך היא חששה לגלות לבעלה שהיא יודעת, פן ילשין הוא עליה! שני הקשישים החביבים הללו דמעו וכולנו עמהם. היושבים שם הבינו, עבורי היה הסיפור בחזקת תמיהה גדולה. שבעים שנה שמר ר’ יוסף מלכין את השופר, אולי אף עשה בו שימוש מפעם לפעם, אך לרעייתו, אשת חיקו, לא יכול היה לגלות את הסוד

כאשר שבתי ארצה למדתי דבר מה על מהותו של המשטר הסובייטי. נחמן רז, חבר קיבוץ גבע, שכיהן אז כיו”ר ועדת החינוך של הכנסת, הפנה אותי לספרה של נדייז’דה מנדלשטאם, תקוות השיר (עם עובד, 1977). ספר שקרע עבורי צוהר לעולם הסובייטי וליהודים בו. אימי משטר הטרור של סטלין חרצו בנשמותיהם של זוג קשישים אלה חריצים כה עמוקים, שאינם יכולים עוד להירפא. על המושג “סטוקאצ'” = מלשין, למדתי עוד ועוד בשנות עבודתי הרבות במרחב ברה”מ. החשש של בני הזוג היה אמיתי, הסוד היה מפלטם היחיד.

יוסף מלכין העניק לי את השופר, אחרי שהסביר בקצרה לבני משפחתו מה פשרו, וביקשני בדמעות כי אטול אותו לארץ ישראל, על מנת שיתקעו בו בימים הנוראים. הקהילה היהודית במוזיר תעבור מן העולם, אמר, הוא האחרון היודע מה זה שופר בעיר זו. ציטטתי בפניו את הפסוקים: “תְקַ‏ע בְשׁוֹ‏פָ‏ר גָ‏דוֹ‏ל לְחֵרוּ‏תֵנוּ‏ וְשָׂ‏א נֵס לְקָ‏בֵץ גָ‏לֻיוֹ‏תֵינוּ‏ וְקַ‏בּ‏צֵנוּ‏ יַ‏חַ‏ד מְהֵרָ‏ה מֵאַ‏רְבַ‏ע כַ‏נְפוֹ‏ת הָ‏אָ‏רֶ‏ץ לְאַ‏רְצֵנוּ‏”! הוצאת השופר מגבולות ברה”מ הייתה משימה מסוכנת. הוזהרנו הזהר היטב שלא נעז לנסות להוציא משם דבר מה. אני מודה שהרצון לחלץ את השופר ולהביאו ארצה, גבר על החשש. השופר עלה אתי למטוס בלא שהתגלה ועלה ארצה. בראש השנה תשנ”א ובשנים הבאות תקענו בשופר זה בבית הכנסת בכפר עציון. השופר שמור עמדי, והוא מהחפצים היקרים ביותר שיש לנו

מאז אותה נסיעה הגיעו ארצה רוב המשפחות אִתן הייתי בקשר במוזיר ובסביבתה. בשבת פרשת כי תבוא, תשע”ה, הצטרף לתפילת שחרית בבית הכנסת, המח”ט החדש שלנו, אל”מ רומן גופמן. בתפילה עמד לידי ובסופה הושיט יד ואמר: שבת שלום, קראתי את דברייך על גוש עציון ולמדתי ממך על האזור עליו התמניתי למפקד. תמהתי, שהרי מעולם לא נפגשנו. רומן השיב, נכון, אבל את החומרים מצאתי באינטרנט, קראתי ושמעתי הרצאות שלך. משם אני מכיר אותך. המבטא הרוסי שלו ניכר היטב, שאלתי: רומן, מהיכן עלית. הוא השיב מעיירה קטנה בבלורוס, אף אחד לא מכיר. שמה בוודאי לא יאמר לך דבר.  כשהתעקשתי, הפטיר בשקט, ממוזיר! רומן ומשפחתו עלו משם כמה חודשים אחרי פסח תש”ן. סביר להניח שהוריו נכחו בסדר הפסח שערכתי שם, או במפגש הגדול שקיימנו עם בני הקהילה

 כאשר חזרתי מבלארוס הזמין אותי שר החינוך, זבולון המר ז”ל, לכהן כיועץ השר והמומנה על קליטת העולים במערכת החינוך וגם על תוכנית החינוך היהודי בברה”מ, אותה הקמתי יחד עם כמה שותפים לדרך. את התוכנות הכתרתי בשם “חפציב”ה (= חינוך פורמלי ציוני-יהודי בברה”מ), המילה חפציב”ה נזכרת באחד מפרקי הנבואה של ישעיהו הנביא, בתארו את השיבה מהגלות לארץ ובניין הארץ. באותה תקופה ובעקבות נסיעתי הראשונה לברה”מ, יזמתי גם את הקמת תוכנית נעל”ה (נוער עולה ללא הורים).

אני כבר גמלאי חמש שנים, התוכניות הללו ממשיכות לפעול.

ב-4 בדצמבר 2025, מינה נתניהו את האלוף רומן גופמן, מזכירו הצבאי של ראש הממשלה, למנהל הבא של המוסד. הוא יחליף את המנהל הנוכחי, דוד ברנע, שכהונתו מסתיימת ביוני 2026

“גופמן הוא קצין מכובד ביותר”, נמסר בהצהרה ממשרד נתניהו. “מינויו למזכירו הצבאי של ראש הממשלה בעיצומה של המלחמה… הוכיח כי הוא בעל יכולות מקצועיות יוצאות דופן, החל מכניסתו המהירה לתפקיד ועד למעורבותו המיידית והמשמעותית בשבע זירות המלחמה”

משרד ראש הממשלה מסר כי גופמן “שמר על תיאום רציף עם כל גופי המודיעין והביטחון, ובמיוחד עם המוסד”

משרד נתניהו שיבח את “יצירתיותו, יוזמתו, תושייתו, הידע המעמיק של האויב, דיסקרטיותו המוחלטת וסודיותו המחמירה”

“ראש הממשלה מאמין כי האלוף גופמן הוא המועמד המתאים והראוי ביותר לכהן כראש המוסד ומאחל לו הצלחה רבה בתפקיד חשוב זה”, נמסר ממשרד ראש הממשלה

,נפגשנו שוב שהיה מפקד מל”י, שבו שירתה אחת הבנות שלי. רומן הוא זה שהעניק לה תעודת הצטיינות

Congratulations to Major-General Roman Gofman on his appointment as the next head of the Mossad.

I’ve known Roman since he was head of the Etzion Brigade and I was head of the Military Prosecution for Judea and Samaria.

We met again when Roman was the head of Division 210, where my son was serving. Roman even gave him his rank of full lieutenant.

We met again when Roman was the head of the National Training Center for the Ground Forces, where one of my daughters was serving. Roman even presented her with her Certificate of Excellence.

First and foremost, Roman is an incredible human being.

The entire Hirsch family wishes him every success in his new position.
