The 64th international Eurovision Song Contest was held in Tel Aviv. It was attended by 41 countries. Ukraine, whose representatives won in 2004 and 2016, did not participate.

In the final, 26 countries fought for the victory, 20 of which were determined by the results of the semifinals, which were held on 14 and 16 of May. Together with them in the finals were Israel (the winner of last year’s contest held in Lisbon and the organizer of the current Eurovision Song Contest), as well as the countries of the Big Five: Germany, Spain, Great Britain, Italy and France.

The winner of the competition was determined by the results of mixed voting (professional jury and television viewers).

Eurovision-2019 won by the representative of the Netherlands Duncan Laurence, who performed the song called “Arcade” and scored 492 points.
The second place went to the representative of Italy Mahmoud with the song “Soldi” (465 points). The third place was taken by the Russian Sergey Lazarev with the composition “Scream” (369 points). Next in the top five: Switzerland (360 points), Norway (338 points). Sweden finished first among 41 national jury with 239 points, only two points ahead of North Macedonia. The Netherlands was third with 231 points, Italy in fourth place with 212 points, in the fifth place Azerbaijan with 197 points, Russia in ninth place – 125 points. Norway won a televote with 291 points, the Netherlands took second place with 261 points, Italy – third with 253, Russia – fourth with 244 and Switzerland – fifth with 212.

The only highest score that Israeli singer Kobi Marimi received from a professional jury came from Belarus. However, in fact, this assessment of the jury did not received by Kobi.
The fact is that on the eve of the final, the organizers of Eurovision-2019 imposed sanctions against representatives of the Republic of Belarus, removing them from voting due to leakage of information about the points put up by the national jury (it included Valery Prigun, Angelina Mikulskaya, Olga Ryzhikova, Artem Mihalenko and Anastasia Tikhanovich). According to the rules, the results must be classified to the finals to avoid influencing the voting audience.
Although the Belarusian TV presenter Maria Vasilevich appeared on the air and called the ratings, in fact it was the average of the points put up by the European jury, which was sent by the European Broadcasting Union. The highest score was automatically awarded to a performer from the organizing country.

Ten points from Belarus went to Estonia, and 8 to Germany (Russia was not on the list). While the audience in Belarus put the highest score to Russia, they brought the Netherlands to second place, and Norway to third place. Israel has not received points from the viewers.
Israel earned praise for a well-placed competition. Chief director, 47-year-old Yuval Cohen, who was asked to make “the best Eurovision in the entire history” last July, admitted that, despite all the crisis and difficult moments that accompanied the organization and holding of the event, he did not want this holiday life ended. Indeed, the reviews of the participants and TV viewers, the European media, tourists who came specially for the competition, were so complimentary that the show was called “The best in recent years”, if not “The best in the entire history of Eurovision”.

The competition was preceded by 9 months of hard work. “This is an absolutely fascinating spectacle when everything written on paper is transformed into reality. When we started to build everything, different ideas were proposed. “I did not even think that all of them could be realized. For example, the idea of an airplane at the beginning of a concert and a song marathon with the participation of stars from previous years,” he told Ynet in an interview.
However, not everything went according to his plan. Cohen said that during the rehearsals of Madonna there were no flags on the clothes of the dancers. They appeared only on live performances.

But the second surprise was the provocation of the Icelandic group, waving the Palestinian flags during the announcement of the results of the vote, Cohen was not surprised. He was quite expecting it, given that the Icelanders warned about the intention to arrange a pro-Palestinian demarche. “We assumed that they could create something, but we thought they would do it at the end of our speech, and we were ready,” Cohen said. In this regard, the provocation during the voting was significantly less noticeable.

“We had conversations with them and made it clear that they should not harm themselves. Only at the stage of the announcement of the voting results they realize that they had nothing to lose, and therefore they did what they did”.

Particular praise was given to the four leading contestants – Bar Rafaeli, Lucy Ayub, Erez Tal and Asi Azar. “I could not dream of such a team! Said the director. – They rehearsed, stuck in from morning to evening. They looked quite naturally together, as if they had worked all their life as a team. Lucy was delighted especially, because she doesn’t have much experience, but she did it perfectly well anyway! ”

The current competition was the longest in the entire history of Eurovision. Usually, the competition lasts a little less than 4 hours. In Sweden, it stretched for 4 hours, and in Israel – for 4 hours and 5 minutes.

В Тель-Авиве прошел 64-й международный конкурс эстрадной песни «Евровидение». В нем принимала участие 41 страна. Не участвовала Украина, представители которой побеждали в 2004 и 2016 годах.

В финале за победу боролись 26 стран, 20 из которых определились по результатам полуфиналов, прошедших 14 и 16 мая. Дело в том, что накануне финала организаторы Евровидения-2019 ввели санкции против представителей Республики Беларусь, отстранив их от голосования – из-за утечки информации о баллах, выставленных национальным жюри (в него входили Валерий Пригун, Ангелина Микульская, Ольга Рыжикова, Артем Михаленко и Анастасия Тиханович). Согласно правилам, результаты должны быть засекречены до финала, чтобы избежать влияния на голосующую аудиторию.

Хотя белорусская телеведущая Мария Василевич и появилась в прямом эфире и назвала оценки, на самом деле это было среднее арифметическое баллов, выставленных европейским жюри, которые прислал Европейский телевещательный союз. Высшая же оценка была автоматически присуждена исполнителю из страны-организатора.

Десять баллов от Беларуси достались Эстонии, а 8 – Германии (России в списке не было). Тогда как зрители в Беларуси поставили высший балл России, на второе место они вывели Нидерланды, а на третье – Норвегию. Израиль от зрителей баллов не получил.

Израиль заслужил похвалы за отлично поставленный конкурс. Главный режиссер, 47-летний Юваль Коэн, которому в июле прошлого года было предложено сделать «лучшее Евровидение за всю историю», признался, что, несмотря на все кризисные и сложные моменты, сопровождавшие организацию и проведение мероприятия, ему не хочется, чтобы этот праздник жизни заканчивался. И действительно, отзывы как участников, так и телезрителей, европейских СМИ, туристов, приехавших специально на конкурс, были настолько комплиментарны, что шоу называлось «лучшим за последние годы», а то и вовсе «лучшим за всю историю Евровидения».

Конкурсу предшествовали 9 месяцев кропотливой работы. «Это совершенно завораживающее зрелище, когда всё  написанное на бумаге преобразуется в реальность. Когда мы только начинали все выстраивать, предлагались разные идеи. Я даже не думал, что все их удастся реализовать. Например, идея с самолетом в начале концерта и песенный марафон с участием звезд прошлых лет», – рассказал он в интервью порталу Ynet.

Однако не всё шло по его плану. Коэн рассказал, что во время репетиций Мадонны никаких флагов на одеждах танцоров не было. Они появились только на выступлении в прямом эфире.

Зато вторая неожиданность, провокация исландской группы, помахавшей палестинскими флагами во время оглашения результатов голосования, Коэна не удивила. Она была вполне ожидаема, учитывая, что исландцы предупреждали о намерении устроить пропалестинский демарш. «Мы предполагали, что они могут что-то сотворить, но думали, что сделают это в конце своего выступления, и были готовы», – поведал Коэн. В этом отношении провокация во время голосования была значительно менее заметна.

«Мы провели беседы с ними и дали понять, что им не стоит вредить самим себе. Только на этапе оглашения итогов голосования они поняли, что им уже нечего терять, и потому сделали то, что сделали».

Особой похвалы удостоились четверо ведущих конкурса – Бар Рафаэли, Люси Аюб, Эрез Таль и Аси Азар. «Я и мечтать не мог о такой сборной! – сказал режиссер. – Они репетировали, вкалывали с утра до вечера. Они смотрелись совершенно естественно вместе, словно всю жизнь проработали в команде. Люси восхитила особенно, ведь она не имеет за плечами огромного опыта, а все равно справилась на отлично!»

Нынешний конкурс был самым длинным за всю историю Евровидения. Как правило, конкурс длится немного менее 4 часов. В Швеции он растянулся на 4 часа, а в Израиле – на 4 часа 5 минут.
